Greetings delegates, and welcome to the BRICS + committee for Chinese International School’s Model United Nations conference,

We are Marnix Wisgerhof and Daniel Choi, a grade 10 student from The Harbour School and a grade 9 student from the Chinese International School. And we are honored to serve you as your chair for the BRICS + for the CISMUN conference.

BRICS is an inter-governmental organization that consists of its 5 permanent member-states (Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa). As of 2024, Egypt, Ethiopia, Iran, and the United Arab Emirates have also been accepted as permanent newly joined member-states. BRICS' original purpose was to the belief that these economies would dominate global growth by 2050. Since BRICS nations already comprise almost 40% of all global citizens and have the fastest-growing economies worldwide.

This Chair Report is by no means a comprehensive account of the situation at hand. It is written to allow delegates to gain a general understanding of the topic and a starting point for them to conduct further research. In addition to further reading regarding the topic, we also encourage delegates to research their assigned delegation’s stance on the topic, as well as other relevant facts about the situation or their nation.

On a less formal note, both of us are extremely excited to participate in the facilitation of this conference for you. We hope you can enrich your knowledge on the topics debated, to improve your public speaking and debating skills, as well as increase your passion in MUN. Good luck, and we look forward to meeting you at the Chinese International School’s Model United Nations Conference.

Best regards
