Message from the chairs
Greetings delegates, and welcome to CISMUN VII Arab League ! We are Ryan Lam and Jaiden Iu, both studying at the Canadian International School of Hong Kong. We are elated to serve as your chairs for this rendition of CISMUN.
The Arab League is a regional organisation consisting of Arab countries in the Middle East and North Africa. The Arab League was founded on March 22, 1945, in Cairo, Egypt. It was established with goals to address common political, economic, and cultural challenges facing the Arab world. It aims to empower member nations internationally and to mediate disputes among them or between them and third parties.
Given that The Arab League is presently an intermediate committee, us chairs hold delegates to the standard of diplomatic discussions and formal debate. To achieve this, we strongly encourage our delegates to conduct comprehensive research about the topics, specific country stances, and clashes concerning the issues at hand. As the chair reports only serves as an introductory basis to the topic, delegates should also conduct external research for diverse discussions and nuanced debate; thus, delegates will be well-prepared on both topics for productive resolutions to be facilitated over the course of the conference.
Due to the nature of the topics at hand, delegates are also reminded to maintain a sense of professionalism for the duration of the conference and also to approach the topics with the utmost sensitivity and respect. Any behaviour which insults or criticises the nationality or religion of a given state will not be tolerated by the chairs nor the CISMUN Secretariat.
For beginner delegates and returning, MUN is a forum for like-minded people with different backgrounds and perspectives to come together. We hope that this conference will be a remarkable learning experience for delegates attending and we’re excited to meet you at CIS MUN in February!
